Abigail
Karr received both Bachelor of Music and
Master of Music degrees at Rice University’s Shepherd
School of Music, studying violin performance with
Sergiu Luca. During summers, she participated in the
Tanglewood Music Center, the Taos School of Music, the
Colorado Music Festival, and the International Baroque
Institute at Longy. Since completing her studies at
Rice in 2003, she has performed with ensembles in and
around her native Boston, including the Handel and
Haydn Society, the Rhode Island Philharmonic, the
Boston Ballet, and the Boston Pops Esplanade
Orchestra. She has also performed with Ton Koopman at
Carnegie Hall as part of that organization’s
Professional Training Workshop series, and with Sergiu
Luca as a guest of Houston’s Context Chamber Ensemble.
She is a member of New Trinity Baroque of Atlanta, the
Arcturus Chamber Ensemble, and Boston Hausmusik, and
enjoys sharing her thoughts on music with her young
students.
